CBC Names Kirstine Stewart Head of English-Language TV
The CBC removes 'interim' from the executive's job title after she replaced fired TV boss Richard Stursberg.
TORONTO -- Her tryout is over: Kirstine Stewart on Monday was named executive vp of the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.’s English-language services.
Stewart had served as interim executive vp after Richard Stursberg, her former boss, was fired from the public broadcaster in August.
In her permanent position, Stewart will continue the CBC’s push for ratings with light and fluffy radio and TV fare to remain relevant in an increasingly competitive and digital Canadian TV landscape.
“CBC will define contemporary public broadcasting and continue to play a vital role in the cultural life of this country," Stewart said Monday.
