CBS, Fox split ratings wins for the week

CBS and Fox split last week in primetime, with CBS getting a boost from the two-hour finale of "Survivor: Fiji" and "American Idol" staying up there with two shows last week, Nielsen Media Research said Tuesday.

The week started off with a commanding performance by ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" (19.4 million, 5.0 rating/14 share adults 18-49), while "Heroes" (11.1 million, 5.1/13) took the 9 p.m. hour in the demo and "CSI: Miami" (17.2 million, 5.4/14) was the night's winner in adults 18-49.

Tuesday and Wednesday were mostly "Idol," with Tuesday's show averaging 25.4 million viewers and a 9.3/28 and Wednesday's averaging 28.2 million viewers and a 10.8/28. "Lost" (12.1 million, 5.0/13) won in the demo against "CSI: NY" (12.8 million, 3.7/10), while the "Dancing" results show did respectably (16.9 million, 4.2/11) Tuesday against "House" (21.3 million, 8.9/23).

Thursday belonged to ABC, though "Grey's Anatomy" (19.6 million, 7.8/21) fell below the 20 million mark for the first time this year but still beat "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (18.7 million, 5.5/15). "Without a Trace" (14.3 million, 3.9/11) came out ahead at 10 p.m. against "ER" (9.4 million, 3.8/11) and "Traveler" (8.6 million, 3.5/10), a premiere on ABC.

Friday went to CBS, and ABC won Saturday in the demo with the Phoenix Suns-San Antonio Spurs NBA playoff game.

Sunday was won in the demo by ABC with "Desperate Housewives" (16.1 million, 6.1/16), which was ahead of the two-hour "Survivor: Fiji" finale (13.6 million, 4.6/13). "Brothers & Sisters" (11.6 million, 4.2/11) won by a tenth of a ratings point in the demo against "Survivor: Fiji Reunion" (11.4 million, 4.1/11).

CBS (11.3 million, 3.2/10) won the week in primetime in viewership ahead of Fox (10.2 million, 3.9/12), which won in adults 18-49, ABC (9.6 million, 3.2/10), NBC (6.9 million, 2.3/7) and the CW (3.1 million, 1.3/4).
