CBS Par inks VOD deal with Top Up
Virgin Media also signs for sci-fi on VODLONDON -- CBS Paramount has struck a VOD content deal with U.K.-based pay TV service Top Up TV, allowing customers of the Freeview-based service access to such shows as "America's Next Top Model," "Medium," "NCIS," "Frasier" and "Sex and the City," it was announced Monday.
The deal was brokered by Top Up TV and CBS Paramount's Guy Petty. Top Up TV Anytime, the VOD service offered by digital terrestrial platform Freeview, offers customers a range of shows starting at $14 per month.
The news came as Virgin Media said it was adding 150 hours of sci-fi programming from suppliers including Warner TV, FX U.K. and Content Film to its VOD service. Shows covered under the deals include "Babylon Five," "Star Trek" and the "Sarah Connor Chronicles."
