CBS Studios International Moves to New London Building
The arm of CBS Corp. has moved closer to the heart of the British capital's media and entertainment industry.
LONDON - CBS Corp.'s CBS Studios International unit here has moved closer to the heart of London's media and entertainment industry.
The operation, which supplies CBS programming to the international TV market, at the end of June moved to The Met Building in the Fitzrovia area of London's West End, just off Tottenham Court Road.
It was previously based in the original Paramount offices in London's Mayfair district, near Green Park. Paramount is a unit of Viacom, from which CBS Corp. split in 2006. CBS Studios International was in the Mayfair offices for almost 25 years and stayed there after Paramount moved out following the split.
Once its lease came up for renewal though, "we decided to move closer to the heart of London's media land," a spokesman said.
Financial terms of the new lease weren't available.
In the move, the unit's 12 staffers started at the new location as of last week under the guidance of CBS Studios International managing director Stephen Tague. CBS International Studios has a floor of office space in the brand new 12-story Met Building at 22 Percy Street.
CBS Corp.'s London operations are spread over various office locations. They include a building in Southwark, where CBS Interactive is based, music-centric Camden, where CBS Outdoor is based, Chiswick, the home of CBS News, Holborn, where book unit Simon & Schuster resides, and hip East London neighborhood Shoreditch, where Last.fm has an office.
CBS Studios International licensing content to more than 200 markets and in more than 30 languages. It distributes programming from CBS Television Studios, Showtime, CBS News, CBS Films and more.
