Cee Lo Green to Perform at Billboard Music Awards
The TV coach is a finalist in the Top R&B Artist and Top R&B Song categories.
Cee Lo Green has been added to the growing list of performers at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards.
STORY: Carrie Underwood, Justin Bieber Among Billboard Music Award Performers
At a press conference held Friday (April 27) at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Billboard.com editor M. Tye Comer -- and a pair of Jubilee! Showgirls -- welcomed Green, who joins Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood, LMFAO and The Wanted as announced performers at the May 20 telecast, airing live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET from the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
Green, whose own Vegas show "Loberace" begins a run in late August, flipped the Billboard Music Awards on its head last year when he performed a medley of his hits with a piano that floated above the stage, and rotated upside down (with him attached).
In the 46 categories of finalists, it was also announced Friday that Adele, LMFAO, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne lead the standings with the "Rolling in the Deep" singer placing as a finalist in 18 award categories. Green, who is also a coach on TV's "The Voice," is a finalist in two categories: Top R&B Artist and Top R&B Song, for "F**k You (Forget You)."
STORY: 'Modern Family's' Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell to Host Billboard Music Awards
Also in attendance at the announcement were Las Vegas Convention and Visitor's Authority Board of Directors Chairman Tom Collins and former mayor Oscar Goodman, the current chairman of the Las Vegas Host Committee.
Hosting this year's event will be Modern Family co-stars Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell.
Tickets for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards are now on sale at Ticketmaster.com and MGMGrand.com. The 2012 Billboard Music Awards will be co-executive produced by Richard D. Beckman, CEO of Prometheus Global Media and Don Mischer Productions.
