Elizabeth Banks, Lena Dunham, Scarlett Johansson and more express their support for the women's healthcare nonprofit.

Pro-life activists and government officials have been working to defund Planned Parenthood in the wake of a string of "undercover" videos showing Planned Parenthood officials speaking frankly about the organization's fetal tissue donation program and the costs associated with it.

The videos, recorded and released by pro-life group Center for Medical Progress, have added even more controversy to an already contentious issue.  Meanwhile, Hollywood celebrities continue to express their support for the women's healthcare nonprofit, and many made their opinions vocal just before a Senate vote to defund the organization failed.

More videos continue to be released, despite the fact that state investigations have repeatedly found no evidence of wrongdoing.

Planned Parenthood has historically found support in A-list Hollywood celebrities and it continues to do so as the 2016 presidential campaign heats up and abortion looks like it will be a key issue in the GOP primary.

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that 54 percent of Americans polled support federal funding specifically for Planned Parenthood to provide free women's health exams, screenings and contraception services. However, 44 percent of the people who saw the videos say they now have a more negative view of the organization.

Lena Dunham and Scarlett Johansson are two actresses who have been very outspoken about their support for Planned Parenthood. Recently there have been a string of celebrities who have spoken positively about the organization including Mindy Kaling, Gabrielle Union, Amy Schumer, Amy Poehler, Ashley Judd, John Legend, Nick Offerman, Kerry Washington, Laverne Cox, Felicity Huffman, Mae Whitman, Alan Cumming and many more.

Here's a look at the people that have publicly supported Planned Parenthood over the years.

10. Connie Britton

In 2013, Britton partnered with Planned Parenthood to release a "WWTD? What Would Tami Taylor Do?" T-shirt in support of Wendy Davis as she fought against a Texas state legislature bill that would impose major restrictions on abortion.  In 2014, she reiterated her support for Planned Parenthood.

"The character Tami on Friday Night Lights is a Texas woman deeply committed to her community and to standing up for what is right for her neighbors and the people she loves," said Britton. "I have been inspired by how people around the country have united to stand with the women of Texas, and I can't help but think that, in this moment, we all have the opportunity to join with and become strong, powerful Texas men and women."
