Turtlenecks Were All Over the AMAs Carpet
But don't worry, there was still plenty of skin.
Many stars at the American Music Awards on Sunday were basically naked — no news there. But it wasn’t because their dresses were super low cut. No, one of the biggest red-carpet trends ended up being a traditionally conservative one: turtlenecks.
Hannah Davis and Gwen Stefani kept their necks warm even though their long gowns were totally sheer. Pals Gigi Hadid and Kylie Jenner managed to show off maximum skin via multiple revealing cutouts even as both their ensembles featured high necks. And Ciara’s dress employed both techniques: sheer and cutout but still, turtlenecked.
Some of the evening’s stars were a bit more covered up, though still glam. For her performance Meghan Trainor covered up in a sequined silver dress, and country singer Karen Fairchild wore a black sequin dress of a very similar style.

Despite 80-degree temperatures, Nick Jonas channeled Sean Connery in his gray Topman turtleneck sweater and coordinating suit. Alanis Morissette, meanwhile, was subdued in a black leather turtleneck which she paired with a full skirt. Apparently stars are really ready for winter.
