Former Celestial Pictures CEO Ross Pollack Joins Lionsgate
The human resources topper completed earlier executive stints at the Asian pay TV channel brand and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
TORONTO — Lionsgate has hired former Celestial Pictures CEO Ross Pollack as its human resources head.
Pollack becomes executive vp and chief human resources officer at Lionsgate after spending three years as CEO at Hong Kong-based Celestial Pictures.
Pollack oversaw the merger of the Asian pay TV channel brand with Lionsgate, Saban Capital and Tigergate to form the Celestial Tiger Entertainment platform in 2011.
More recently, Pollack was managing director of the global management consultancy Insigniam in Hong Kong and Los Angeles.
And he earlier spent 13 years with Sony Pictures Entertainment, including six years in Hong Kong as senior vp distribution, Asia.
“Ross is an experienced and well-respected strategist who will be a great fit for our innovative and entrepreneurial culture,” Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said in a statement Tuesday.
Pollack’s appointment comes as the Vancouver-based mini-studio solidifies box-office success with such YA titles as The Hunger Games and the Twilight franchises and diversification into TV with hits such as Nashville, Orange Is the New Black and Weeds.
