Pathe International has closed a string of deals at the European Film Market for its market titles, with more pending for its festival entries, the company said Sunday.

Neil Marshall's "Centurion" has presold to Constantin in Germany, Aurum in Spain, Hopscotch in Australia, Scanbox in Scandinavia and Odeon in Greece. The ancient Britain-set actioner, which stars Michael Fassbender, will start principal photography this month in Scotland.

Pathe also has sealed deals for "LOL (Laughing Out Loud)," directed by Liza Azuelos, with Mediaset in Italy, Maywin in the CIS, Delphi in Germany and Alta in Spain. The film opened in France last week on 430 screens, grossing €550,000 ($710,452) during its first two days.

Alta also has picked up Mona Achache's "The Elegance of the Hedgehog" from Pathe, with a German deal expected to be in place before the end of the market. A German sale on Costa-Gavras' immigration tale "Eden Is West," set to screen as the closing-night film, also is close, Pathe said.

Pathe is in advanced negotiations for a Spanish sale on Stephen Frears' period romantic drama "Cheri," which screens in competition Tuesday, following early sales to Lumiere in Benelux and Nordisk in Scandinavia.

Elsewhere on the firm's slate, Jane Campion's "Bright Star" has sold to Japan. (partialdiff)
