WGA reps met informally with select top studio execs Wednesday, hoping to resurrect more formal contract negotiations between the writers and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers.
Another informal session is planned for Thursday, with studio participants expected to include News Corp. president and COO Peter Chernin, Disney chief Robert Iger and perhaps one or two others.
"They're not all in the room, but they're all in the loop," said one studio source about CEO participation in Wednesday's get-together.
The studio toppers met with guild brass including exec director David Young and negotiating committee chair John Bowman.
Chernin -- who also holds the title of Fox Group chairman and CEO -- and Iger, whose company owns ABC, have been particularly hands-on in attempts to get the WGA-AMPTP talks back on track.
