White Rules the CFDA Awards Red Carpet
Apparently post-Memorial Day rules apply at American fashion's biggest night.
It seems many of the fashion designers, bloggers, models and celebrities attending Monday night’s annual CFDA Fashion Awards were thrilled the event fell after Memorial Day — they were looking summery and chic in white.
The trend took many iterations, from feminine and light to architectural and modern. Juliette Lewis wore a full-skirted feathery two-piece creation by Christian Siriano, which he gave fans a peek of on his Instagram before the celebs started down the red carpet. Nina Dobrev’s Lela Rose gown also incorporated a wispy feathered skirt.
Rachel Zoe donned a super boho hand-beaded gold macrame dress from her own collection, covered with swingy white fringe. And Blonde Salad blogger Chiara Ferragni wore a midriff-baring chevron-patterned white fringe gown by Rebecca Minkoff for the occasion.
Actress Katharine McPhee also added black to the mix, pairing a white crop top and long sleeveless white coat with a black midi pencil skirt, black glasses and strappy heels.
Joan Smalls and her date Jennifer Fisher were #twinning with their side-by-side white ensembles and center-parted hair. Also coordinating: designer Clare Vivier and her date Garance Dore, who turned up in white culottes and a blazer and a low-back white wrap top and sequined gold trousers, respectively.
Model Jessica Hart stunned in a cream-colored shift, with Tabitha Simmons. Even designer Phillip Lim got into the mix, wearing white trousers and a scarf with a black jacket.
