Network18 exec to lead new venture
NEW DELHI -- Following the recent announcement of a joint venture between A&E Television Networks and leading Indian broadcasting group Network18, AETN18 Media Private Ltd. announced the appointment of Ajay Chacko as president.
AETN18 plans to launch channels such as History, Bio, Crime & Investigation Network among other AETN entertainment outlets in India for which a timeline will be announced shortly.
Based in Mumbai, Chacko was earlier with Network18 over the past seven years where he was involved with the group's business news channels CNBC TV18, CNBC AWAAZ and print magazine Forbes India.
“Ajay brings a very successful track record as a leader and a wealth of knowledge about the Indian market to the venture,” said AETN International VP Sean Cohan. “With him at the helm, we are well-positioned to realize our shared vision of strong and vibrant entertainment services in India.”
“I believe that the Indian factual entertainment opportunity is truly compelling, with the twin forces of evolving viewer tastes and digitization driving demand for such content to an inflection point," Chacko added.
