Chadwick Boseman's Thurgood Marshall Biopic Nabbed by Open Road for the U.S.
The film also stars Josh Gad and Kate Hudson.
The Thurgood Marshall biopic Marshall has been picked up by Open Road in the U.S.
Chadwick Boseman (Captain America: Civil War) stars as the attorney turned Supreme Court Justice in the film from director Reginald Hudlin.
The movie centers on a young Marshall. A nearly bankrupt NAACP sends him to conservative Connecticut to defend a black chauffeur against his wealthy socialite employer in a sexual assault and attempted murder trial.
As previously announced, Josh Gad also star as Sam Friedman, a young Jewish lawyer who has never tried a case and is partnered with Marshall. New additions to the cast include Kate Hudson, Dan Stevens and Sterling K. Brown.
Paula Wagner is producing Marshall, along with Jonathan Sanger and Hudlin, with Peter Luo and Belton Lee acting as executive porducers. Jacob Koskoff, who wrote 2015's Macbeth, penned the screenplay with his father Michael Koskoff, a Connecticut-based trial lawyer.
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has all international distribution rights for the film.
Open Road will next release Oliver Stone's NSA whistleblower drama, Snowden.
