Chapman University Launches Production, Distribution Label

Chapman Entertainment will produce five to 10 micro-budget films per year.

Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts is launching a first-of-its-kind production and distribution company, Chapman Entertainment, LLC.

Chapman Entertainment will produce five to 10 micro-budget ($250,000-$625,000) films per year. The company will make, own and distribute a slate of independent films, that will also allow it to control content.

Funding will be provided through two sources: equity partners who will share in profits and donors whose philanthropy will support the educational mission and objectives of the post-graduate feature film experience.

Chapman Entertainment will also produce, market and distribute micro-budgeted films, TV and new media.

Dodge College of Film and Media Arts’ Dean Bob Bassett will act as president and CEO of Chapman Entertainment.

The company will aim to produce a slate based on their appeal to a younger demographic that is more likely to embrace and access new media distribution channels.
