Carey started in his new post Wednesday as Peter Chernin left his long-time president and COO post.
Carey will receive a base salary of $8.1 million a year and a $10 million signing bonus, News Corp. said in a regulatory filing Wednesday as first reported by The Wall Street Journal. He is also eligible for an annual bonus of up to $25 million, including restricted stock units, depending on News Corp.'s profitability.
The Journal, owned by News Corp.'s Dow Jones unit, said Carey's contract gives him the same base salary and maximum bonus as Chernin.
