'Chef' Actor Emjay Anthony Joins YA Sequel 'Insurgent' (Exclusive)
Emjay Anthony, the young actor who most recently appeared in Jon Favreau's Chef, has joined YA sequel Insurgent.
Insurgent, the follow-up to hit dystopian film Divergent, sees the return of Shailene Woodley and Theo James as citizens in a futuristic world where people are divided into groups based on their values. The sequel, directed by Robert Schwentke, currently is shooting in Atlanta.
Also returning for Insurgent are Divergent stars Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Kate Winslet, Jai Courtney and Zoe Kravitz. Among the new additions are Octavia Spencer, Suki Waterhouse, Naomi Watts, Daniel Dae Kim, Rosa Salazar and Jonny Weston.
Anthony, in a smaller part in the film, will play Hector, the younger brother of Lynn (Salazar).
Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher are producing via their Red Wagon Entertainment banner, along with Pouya Shahbazian. Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman are executive producing through their Mandeville Films banner, along with Neil Burger and Barry Waldman.
Erik Feig, co-president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, and Gillian Bohrer, Lionsgate’s executive vp production and development, are overseeing the project for the studio.
Anthony played Favreau's son in his directorial effort Chef. He also appeared on TV series Rake and in 2009 comedy It's Complicated. He's repped by Coast to Coast Talent Group and Sloane Offer.
Divergent, The first film based on Veronica Roth's popular YA series, opened in March, going on to earn $267 million worldwide. The third and fourth installments in the series, Allegiant: Part 1 and Allegiant: Part 2, are slated for release March 18, 2016, and March 24, 2017, respectively.
