New Faces to Join Chelsea Handler, Aziz Ansari at Just For Laughs Comedy Fest
The Canadian yukfest announced its lineup of undiscovered and unattached comic talent looking to snag film or TV deals from Hollywood execs and scouts in Montreal this week.
TORONTO – The Just for Laughs comedy festival has unveiled its New Faces of Comedy talent lineup, which features emerging comics not yet established in film or TV.
And the comic up and comers aren’t exactly Starbucks barristas or clerks at your neighborhood video rental store.

The Just For Laughs’ New Faces of Comedy showcase on Wednesday and Thursday night in Montreal will be top-lined by Adam Lowitt, an Emmy-award winning co-executive producer on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Jamie Lee, a semi-finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and David Angelo (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon).
The New Faces of Comedy showcase in Montreal has traditionally featured talent not attached to film or TV projects, and will enable newcomers to hawk their talent alongside already established acts this week like Chelsea Handler, Aziz Ansari and Wayne Brady.
But spotting hidden talent in the Internet age has become virtually impossible for Just For Laugh programmers, so they’ve expanded the sidebar to feature sketch comedy characters and comics without representation.

The separate New Faces of Comedy Characters lineup on Thursday and Friday night at Just For Laughs will be led by Rachel Bloom, a writer on the Adult Swim show Robot Chicken, The Groundling’s Greg Worswick, whose other acting credits include CBS’ 2 Broke Girls and NBC’s Parks and Recreation, and Second City Chicago alum Tim Baltz, Brendan Jennings and Sam Richardson.
And Just For Laughs organizers also broke out a first-ever New Faces of Comedy: Unrepped section, to include Anthony DeVito, a New York-based sketch comedy artist (Late Night with Conan O’Brien), and Dave Waite (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon).
