Spirit Awards Style: It's All in the Details
Standout shoes, clutches and sunnies on stars including Cate Blanchett, Jessica Biel and Rachel McAdams.
The Independent Spirit Awards kick off the last weekend of award shows, and with a daytime blue carpet the style is a much less serious than for the Oscars on Sunday. Appropriately, many stars donned lighter, brighter colors and shorter styles that show off their accessories.
Rachel McAdams was radiant in a color-blocked red-and-white dress with pale pink belt, and her chic box clutch and nails both coordinated with that girlie accent. Her delicate gold rings added a little bling, which was echoed in the gold Elizabeth and James hair accessory securing her half-up, half-down 'do.
Marisa Tomei also kept things relatively simple, wearing a white frock scattered with florals, paired with a white and gold clutch. Actress Bel Powley paired her paillette-encrusted dress with the best shoes of the day so far. The platform wedges feature a Pacman print.
Stana Katic’s chartreuse gown featured interesting off-the-shoulder detail. And Jessica Biel coordinated her bold blue-and-red printed dress with the best eye makeup: bright cobalt eyeliner that matched exactly, plus a jeweled ear cuff that also brought in a cerulean shade.
Cate Blanchett takes home the prize for best sunnies. She rocked oversized cat eye–shaped frames that mimicked the swirls of color in her vibrant embroidered Gucci gown, which looked to be a work of art in and of itself.
