Chinese exhibitor books three Imax screens
Wanda Cinema Line adds three more Imax theatresBANFF, ALBERTA -- Chinese exhibitor Wanda Cinema Line has booked another three Imax theatres for the cities of Quanzhou, Wuhan and Dalian.
The latest theatre deal comes on top of four Imax screens that property developer Wanda already operates in the People's Republic of China, and another seven it is scheduled to open to get to 14 screens in all by the end of 2012.
Wanda general manager Jerry Ye noted the latest theatre deal with Imax comes as the Toronto-based giant screen exhibitor looks to attract more Chinese theatre-goers to its super-sized screens with local language movies.
These include the upcoming July theatrical release of "Aftershock" from director Feng Xiaogang, co-produced with the Chinese film studio Huayi Brothers Media.
Wanda currently operates 50 cineplexes and 400 screens in the Chinese market.
