Chris O'Dowd Joining J.J. Abrams' 'God Particle' (Exclusive)
David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Daniel Bruhl are already aboard Paramount's sci-fi thriller.
Chris O'Dowd is the latest addition to the growing international cast of the J.J. Abrams-produced God Particle.
The Irish actor will join David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Daniel Bruhl, who will play crewmembers aboard a space station who find themselves alone after a scientific experiment causes Earth to disappear. When a space shuttle appears, the space station crew must determine if they are friend or foe.
O'Dowd is taking the part previously earmarked by John Krasinski, who has exited the project.
The Paramount sci-fi thriller is being directed by Julius Onah. Abrams will produce the project under his Bad Robot production banner.
O'Dowd broke through Stateside with his role as Kristen Wiig's love interest in Bridesmaids. He will next be seen in Tim Burton's Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, which Fox opens Sept. 30, and will be heard in the Vincent van Gogh film Loving Vincent, the first fully painted animated feature.
He is repped by WME, the U.K.'s Gordon and French and 3 Arts.
