Chris Weitz to Direct Nazi-Hunter Drama for MGM
The film will follow the team that hunted down and captured Holocaust architect Adolf Eichmann.
Chris Weitz is in talks to direct an upcoming MGM film that centers on the team that hunted down and captured Holocaust architect Adolf Eichmann.
The untitled historical drama, written by Matthew Orton, will be produced by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones with Matt Charman acting as the executive producer.
Eichmann facilitated the logistics of mass deportation of Jews to ghettos and extermination camps in German-occupied Eastern Europe during World War II. He fled to Argentina after the war, where he was eventually captured by Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, and was brought to Israel to face trial for his crimes against humanity. He was sentenced to hang and was executed in 1962.
MGM is still looking for a distributor for the pic.
Weitz, who is repped by WME and Morris Yorn, is responsible for the screenplay of the first Star Wars stand-alone title, Rogue One, and also penned the script for the Idris Elba-starrer The Mountain Between Us. His last directorial effort was 2011's A Better Life.
