The show will take an irreverent look at parenthood through the point of view of an acerbic working mother.

Christina Applegate has been cast in the NBC’s untitled Emily Spivey project.

The single camera comedy, from NBC studio and Lorne Michaels' Broadway Video Prod, takes an irreverent look at parenthood through the point of view of an acerbic working mother (Applegate), along with her stay-at-home husband and opinionated parents.

In recent weeks, Applegate has proved to be one of pilot season’s most in-demand actresses, making headlines when she passed on such projects as Darren Star’s Good Christian Bitches pilot for ABC. The new mom’s TV credits include a starring role in Samantha Who, Jesse and long-running Fox hit, Married with Children.

Spivey (Parks and Recreation, Saturday Night Live) will serve as the project’s writer and executive producer, with Michael (SNL, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, 30 Rock), Applegate and her manager, Management 360's Eric Kanzler, on board as an executive producer.

Applegate is repped by CAA and Management 360.
