Christopher Walken Impersonator 'Embarrassed' for AP Reporter Who Mistook Him for the Actor
The radio producer who fooled an Associated Press reporter into thinking he was Christopher Walken says he's "embarrassed" for the journalist.
Marc Sterne appears weekly on the Washington, D.C.-based ESPN 980 to talk about sports and last Friday, he discussed fantasy football and the reopening of the investigation into Natalie Wood's 1981 death on the station as Walken, who was a passenger on the yacht that Wood disappeared from.

Sterne told Access Hollywood Live, "Christopher Walken hasn’t spoken about this in 30 years, do they really think he’s calling into a D.C. sports show, to talk about Natalie Wood, and then, by the way, give fantasy football tips? It was absurd.
"Let’s be honest, I’m sure Julia Roberts does a better Christopher Walken than I do and I’m embarrassed for the AP reporter."

AP later retracted its story, saying "the story mistakenly quoted Christopher Walken as telling Washington, D.C. sports talk radio station ESPN 980 about his recollections from the night that Wood died. An Associated Press reporter mistook what was actually a station employee’s impersonation of Walken as a real interview."
The Hollywood Reporter revealed Friday that Mathew Rosengart, a former federal prosecutor turned litigation specialist at Los Angeles' Greenberg Traurig firm, is now representing Walken. The actor was one of the last people to see Wood, his co-star in the film Brainstorm, before she mysteriously died.

Sources told THR that Los Angeles Sheriff's Department investigators do not consider Walken to be a suspect in the inquiry, which was officially reopened Friday.
