SEOUL -- Sony Pictures Television International announced Thursday the opening of a licensing office in South Korea to be headed by Chung Soojin as executive director of licensing.

"Opening a licensing office in Korea demonstrated our continued efforts to better serve our Korean clients and to offer more choices to our customers throughout Asia," said Ross Pollack, SPTI's senior vp distribution, Asia, in announcing the move.

Chung will be responsible for licensing of SPTI's series and features to traditional and new-media partners in Korea. She will also assist in evaluating, investing in and distributing Korean content for SPTI Asia and worldwide.

Chung joins SPTI from Buena Vista International Television, where she was the head of sales for Korea since 2004. Prior to joining BVI, she held a number of positions in Korean television, including acquisition manager at SBS Prods. and Hollyvision Saehan Media.
