CineAsia names Zucker top distributor
Sony exec's releases have totaled $10 bil at boxofficeBANGKOK -- Annual exhibition trade show CineAsia will honor Sony Pictures Releasing International's Mark Zucker as its Distributor of the Year at the Dec. 9-11 event in Macau.
"In the world of distribution, you couldn't ask for a more dedicated and respected professional who has done so much for their company, or in this instance, companies, in bringing film into the hearts and minds of so many moviegoers internationally," event co-managing director Mitch Neuhauser said in a statement.
A 33-year industry veteran, Zucker has overseen the release of films generating more than $10 billion at the boxoffice, including SPRI's most successful titles, such as "The Da Vinci Code," "Casino Royale," "Quantum of Solace" and the three "Spider-Man" movies.
He has worked in marketing and finance at Paramount, MGM/UA, TriStar, Columbia Pictures Domestic Distribution, Sony Pictures Releasing, Columbia Pictures Domestic Distribution and SPRI.
Previous Distributor of the Year honorees at CineAsia include Kurt Rieder of United International Pictures, Paul Hanneman and Tomas Jegeus of 20th Century Fox International, William Ireton of Warner Bros., Jeff Forman of Buena Vista International and Roger Pollock of United International Pictures.
