Cinemark Promotes Veteran Film Buyer Steve Bunnell
UPDATED: Ricardo Szperling has also been promoted, heading up film buying and programming for Latin America.
Veteran film buyer Steve Bunnell has been promoted to executive vp global content at giant theater circuit Cinemark.
"Steve's role in our company has been expanding since he joined Cinemark in 2009 as senior vp domestic film buying," Cinemark CEO Tim Warner said in a statement. "He's done an excellent job managing our film and content buyers around the world. In 2013, Cinemark welcomed over 277 million customers in over 480 theaters in 40 states in the United States and 12 countries in Central and South America."
Cinemark has also promoted Ricardo Szperling to vp film buying and programming for Latin America.
"In his new role, Ricardo will work closely with Steve and the rest of the Latin American in-country teams to be sure we are providing our customers with the best entertainment options from around the world," said Valmir Fernandes, president of Cinemark International.
Rounding out the worldwide content team is vp global strategy and analysis Justin McDaniel.
"We feel we have one of the best film and content teams in the industry," Cinemark president-COO Robert Copple said. "They are responsible for bringing the best movies to our theaters, as well as alternative content, which continues to play a larger role as an important entertainment option for our customers."
Cinemark is the country's third-largest theater chain after Regal Entertainment and AMC Entertainment.
