Cinemax's Cursed 'Transporter' Series Shoot Looking For New Showrunners
The production-plagued action drama that stars Chris Vance is looking to resume shooting in Toronto in the spring.
TORONTO - Cinemax's cursed Transporter action series is in the market for new showrunners.
The Canadian-French co-production between local producer QVF and Gallic partner Atlantique Productions last summer hired British director Steve Shill (Rome, Dexter) to replace the original Canadian showrunners Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie.
Now producers of the 12-part action series based on the Luc Besson film franchise are looking for new showrunners to resume shooting in Toronto in the spring on the final five episodes.
Production was halted last October after star Chris Vance suffered an on-set injury.
The Prison Break star is understood to be back in good health.
But the action drama’s producers are still dealing with the creative challenges and threatened cost-overruns from adapting Besson’s fast-paced, iconic film franchise into a one hour TV series.
Transporter is co-produced by HBO/Cinemax, HBO Canada, Germany's RTL and France M6.
Vance plays Frank Martin, an ex-elite commando turned transporter who delivers mysterious packages against all odds for a series of shady and dangerous clients.
The action series initially shot on location in Europe in June 2011 before shifting to Toronto in July.
The original schedule had Transporter shooting in Toronto through November 2011.
