CJ Entertainment names Katherine Kim CEO
Ex-Columbia Tristar exec to continue as head of CJ Int'lBANGKOK -- South Korea's biggest movie company, CJ Entertainment, has promoted Katharine Kim to CEO in a management shuffle aimed at ensuring stability in the face of the global economic crisis, the company said Friday.
The first woman to head the Seoul-based company, Kim also will keep her two other titles: executive vp and head of international.
As CEO, she replaces Kim Joo-sung, who was made CEO of sister cable television company CJ Media.
Kim joined CJ in 2005 to handle DreamWorks' and Paramount's Korean distribution and CJ's U.S. co-productions, such as "August Rush" (2007). She previously worked at Columbia Tristar Film of Korea and Art Service.
