Clarence Clemons Gets Lady Gaga's Support on Twitter
Lady Gaga on Monday sent get-well wishes to saxophonist Clarence Clemons, who suffered a stroke at his home in Florida over the weekend.
Clemons plays on two songs from Gaga's new album, Born This Way, including current single "The Edge of Glory."
"Little monsters, my very close friend + musician on 'The Edge of Glory' Clarence Clemons is very sick," she tweeted Monday. "Can we all make some get-well videos?"
Clemons, a longtime member of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, has weathered a series of ailments over the last decade and, after undergoing knee and back surgery last year, was confined to a wheelchair on and off. He hasn't performed with the E Street Band since their last shows in December.
"Yesterday it did not look good at all,” the source said. “Today... miracles are happening. His vital signs are improving. He's responsive. His eyes are welling up when we're talking to him. He was paralyzed on his left side, but now he's squeezing with his left hand. This is the best news we've heard since [the stroke] happened -- it's nothing short of miraculous. The next five days will still be critical. But he's a fighter."
