'New York' newbies

Carla Gugino ("American Gangster") and Goran Visnjic (NBC's "ER") have joined the cast of the omnibus film "New York, I Love You." They will appear in a segment directed by Andrei Zvyagintsev. "New York," a follow-up to "Paris, je t'aime," will be released in the U.S. in early 2009 by Vivendi Entertainment and Palm Pictures.

Tribeca nods

The Tribeca Film Festival and sister nonprofit Tribeca Film Institute on Friday presented six filmmakers from underrepresented communities with the Tribeca All Access Creative Promise Awards. Winners: Pete Chatmon and co-writer Candice Sanchez McClaren (narrative), Leigh Dana Jackson (emerging narrative), Gemma Cubero and Celeste Carrasco (documentary) and Anslem Richardson (screenwriting). Richardson took home $8,500, while the other filmmakers received $12,000 in their categories.

Equity on move

The Actors' Equity Assn. is moving to a new office in Hollywood on Tuesday. Its new home will be on the fifth floor of 6755 Hollywood Blvd. "Given rental costs in the Museum Square area of Los Angeles, we felt that there were other areas that would give us greater opportunities along with proximity to where our members live for comparable costs," assistant executive director Steve DiPaola said on the union's Web site. The Equity office will be closed through today.
