FEMME FETES FOX

La Femme Film Festival, which runs Oct. 16-19 at the Fine Arts Theatre and the Wilshire Screening Room in Beverly Hills, will honor Vivica A. Fox with its Image Award. Its other honorees are Erika Gimpel (Visionary Award), Tippi Hedren (Thespian Award) and Daphne Zuniga (Meritorious Achievement Award).

AUSTIN SET IN STONE

Oliver Stone's "W." will open the 15th annual Austin Film Festival on Oct. 16 at the Paramount Theatre in Austin. James Cromwell, who plays George H.W. Bush in the film, is scheduled to attend the screening. The fest, which will screen 190 features and shorts, runs through Oct. 23. Read the "W." review at THR.com/film.

HERZOG HONORED

The International Documentary Assn. will present Werner Herzog with its 2008 Career Achievement Award at the IDA Documentary Awards Ceremony, set for Dec. 5 at the DGA in Los Angeles. The award is given to a filmmaker who has had a major impact on documentary film. Herzog's documentary credits include "Grizzly Man" and "Little Dieter Needs to Fly," the basis for his own feature "Rescue Dawn."
