CSA FETES SCHUMACHER

The Casting Society of America will honor Thomas Schumacher, president of Disney Theatrical Group, with its New York Apple Award, recognizing an individual who has made a special commitment to the New York entertainment industry. Part of the 2008 Artios Awards, the kudo will be presented to Schumacher on Nov. 10 at Carolines in New York.

Britney Spears will begin a tour in the spring. Dates have not been announced, but the trek produced by AEG Live likely will be international in scope. Spears last toured in 2004, grossing more than $34 million. Her new album, "Circus," is due Dec. 2 via Jive; its first single, "Womanizer," is expected to leap into the upper reaches of the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

DUO SET FOR ASC HONORS

Robert F. "Bobby" Liu and Isidore Mankofsky will be honored at the 23rd annual American Society of Cinematographers Outstanding Achievement Awards. Liu will receive the ASC Career Achievement in Television Award and Mankofsky will receive the ASC Presidents Award during the Feb. 15 ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Century City. Liu earned Emmy noms for "Lou Grant" in 1982 and "Family Ties" in 1989. Mankofsky earned three Emmy and three ASC Award noms during his career.
