DUO EARN 'LIFE'

Liam Neeson and Christina Ricci will star in "After.Life." Writer-director Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo's feature debut centers on a young woman (Ricci) caught between life and death. A funeral director (Neeson) appears to have the gift of transitioning the dead but may be intent on burying her alive. Ricci signed last month to replace the originally attached Kate Bosworth in the lead. Shooting begins next month in New York.

HIFF FETES BARENDRECHT

At the Hamptons International Film Festival, an industry crowd gathered at East Hamptons Point for the HIFF/ indieWire Industry Toast to Fortissimo Films' Wouter Barendrecht. John Cameron Mitchell, Bob Berney and Dylan Leiner were among the guests. "This means a lot of people share support for the kind of cinema we love," Barendrecht said.

'KNIGHT' FALLS ON MPSE

The work on Warner Bros.' "The Dark Knight" will be featured at the Motion Picture Sound Editors' Sound Show. Presenters include supervising sound editor/sound designer Richard King, music editor Alex Gibson and special guest composer Hans Zimmer. A co-presentation of the MPSE and the American Cinematheque, Sound Show will be held Oct. 27 at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.
