ARTISTS CHIME IN

First NBC brought back the chimes; now it's going to make 'em sing. The network is tapping an array of famous musicians, including B.B. King, Clint Black, the Flaming Lips and the B-52s, to compose new versions of the 75-year-old branding tones. "It helps to create a stronger network experience and a network point of view that's upbeat and aspirational," said Adam Stotsky, president of NBC Entertainment Marketing.

'UNMARRIED' COMMITMENT

CBS has ordered four more scripts of the freshman comedy "Gary Unmarried" from ABC Studios and CBS Paramount. The Jay Mohr sitcom has been growing slightly in its Wednesday time period, paired with "The New Adventures of Old Christine."

Taking a back seat to CBS' "Survivor" and "CSI," Fox's airing of Game 2 of the World Series came in second place Thursday. The Philadelphia at Tampa Bay matchup (12.8 million viewers, 4.0 preliminary rating) gave the network its best Thursday since April but was down 17% from Wednesday's Game 1.
