Music Industry Veteran Clive Davis To be Honored at Ischia Film & Music Fest
The five-time Grammy winner joins a roll call of previous music industry figures honored in Ischia that includes Burt Bacharach, Harry Belafonte, and Sting.
ROME – The 10th Ischia Global Film & Music Fest will honor acclaimed music producer Clive Davis with the festival’s "William Wolton Ischia Legend Award" to be presented on the festival’s opening night.
Festival founder Pascal Vicedomini said the William Wolton prize, which is awarded only occasionally, will be presented by Grammy nominated Italian singer Zucchero ahead of a gala "A Night With a Legend" event at Ischia’s Regina Isabella Resort and Spa on July 8. The festival, on the island of Ischia off the coast of Naples, will conclude July 15.
The 80-year-old Davis, who has won five Grammy Awards and is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, will join a long list of music industry luminaries honored in previous editions of the festival, including Burt Bacharach, Harry Belafonte, Sting, Sheryl Crow, Julio Iglesias, and Andrea Bocelli.
“Music is my life, film is my avocation, and Italy is my second home,” Davis said in a statement. “I can envision no finer night in no finer site and I really can’t wait for this very special evening.”
On its film side, the festival previously announced it would add yet another honor to the long list of accomplishments for Cesare deve morire (Ceaser Must Die), the drama about a prison acting troupe from Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, with the “2012 Ischia Legend Award” -- the film already won the Golden Bear in Berlin, three prizes at the David di Donatello awards, and the film of the year prize at the Nastri di Argento awards at the end of June -- and a career honor and retrospective for celebrated Argentinian director Fernando Solanas.
