Clooney's return a hit for More4

Final episode of 'E.R' attracts multichannel viewers

LONDON -- Channel 4 may be backing out of acquisitions, but the broadcaster’s digital web More4 won 875,000 viewers for George Clooney’s return in the final episode of “E.R,” which aired here Thursday night.

The long-running drama, which had been one of Channel 4’s most prominent shows until recent years, earned digital web More4 a 5.2% share of multichannel viewing when it aired at 10 p.m.

Channel 4, which brought a generation of such shows as “Frasier,” “E.R,” “Sex and the City” and “Friends” to a U.K. audience over the last twenty years, has cut back its commitment to acquired shows in the last few years and said earlier this week that director of television Kevin Lygo would not attend this year’s May LA screenings.
