RT Features and CG Cinema will produce 'Wasp Network,' based on Fernando Morais' book 'The Last Soldiers of the Cold War.'

Clouds of Sils Maria and Personal Shopper director Olivier Assayas has lined up another project: He will write and direct Wasp Network, an adaptation of Fernando Morais’ book, The Last Soldiers of the Cold War

Wasp Network is the true story of Cuban spies in American territory during the 1990s who reveal the tentacles of a terrorist network based in Florida.

Morais' book, published June 16, 2015, remains a timely tale, especially with the recent changes in relations between Cuba and the U.S. His book delves into the decades-long conflict between Cuba and the U.S. and the growth of the powerful Cuban exile community in Florida.

RT Features’ Rodrigo Teixeira will produce alongside CG Cinema’s Charles Gillibert. RT’s Lourenco Sant'Anna and Sophie Mas will executive produce. RT Features' recent films include two Sundance breakouts: Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me by Your Name starring Armie Hammer and Geremy Jasper’s Patti Cake$. Gillibert previously produced Assayas' Personal Shopper, Clouds of Sils Maria and Summer Hours.

Assayas most recently wrote and directed Personal Shopper starring Kristen Stewart, which made its world premiere at the 2016 Cannes International Film Festival, where Assayas was awarded best director honors. IFC Films released the pic in the U.S. on March 10. The filmmaker previously worked with Stewart on Clouds of Sils Maria, which also starred Juliette Binoche. The drama made its world premiere at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, where Assayas was nominated for the Palme d'Or. He also was nominated for the Palme d'Or for Demonlover in 2002 and for Les destinées in 2000.

Assayas is repped by WME and Intertalent, while RT Features is repped by CAA.
