Club in Chris Brown-Drake Brawl Has License Suspended

Nearly two weeks after Chris Brown's alleged brawl with Drake, New York state has suspended the liquor license of the nightclub made famous for the incident involving the hip-pop rivals.

On Tuesday, the State Liquor Authority called an emergency meeting over incidents at Soho's W.i.P and sister club Greenhouse, resulting in license suspension for both.

"The SLA will not tolerate violent bars that break the law,” said SLA Chairman Dennis Rosen, according to the New York Daily News.

Facing a $20 million lawsuit from injured NBA star Tony Parker, W.i.P. has received 14 code violations from the State Liquor Authority.

Violations include failing to stop the June 14 brawl, in which bottles were thrown and eight people were reportedly injured. Other violations stem from previous fights at the club, noise violations and two incidents in which marijuana was discovered on the premises.

W.i.P. has previously run into trouble for selling alcohol to minors and using unlicensed security guards. According to records, in 2010 a security guard (who himself was smoking a joint) sold marijuana to an undercover cop.

Last week, San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker filed a $20 million suit against the club and its owners, for a “corneal laceration of the left eye and other injuries” he says he sustained during the brawl.

Neither Drake or Brown are labeled suspects in the melee, with authorities deeming the latter a "witness" and a "victim." Things allegedly got out of hand after the two -- both previously romantically linked to Rihanna -- engaged in a tense back-and-forth involving a bottle of champagne sent over to Drake's table and a nasty note sent back to Brown.
