CNN eyes Wald as head of Piers Morgan show
Former CNBC executive in talks ahead of January launch
CNN is talking to former CNBC boss Jonathan Wald to head up Piers Morgan's new show on the news network, according to the New York Post.
With the show set to start in January, CNN executives are looking to seal a deal for a showrunner fairly quickly.
Morgan moved into a corner office at the Time Warner Center in midtown Manhattan where CNN has its New York studio last week.
Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday that CNN is giving new show "Parker Spitzer" time to grow and further tweak its approach. After a disappointing ratings start last Monday, it showed signs of growth in the competitive 8pm timeslot. According to the Journal, the show's ratings had grown nearly a quarter among younger viewers by Thursday. Plus, after its first day, it exceeded Larry King in terms of viewers 25-54, which are the core target for news advertisers.
The paper also highlighted that the show has added segments with more guests and decluttered the hosts' table, which was full of newspapers on the debut episode.
