Space Buns Are the New Flower Crowns at Coachella

Sam Reed

An homage to Princess Leia, perhaps?

Since the slow decline of the flower crown over the past few years, there has yet to be a festival trend quite as ubiquitous as the faux (or real) floral headpieces. However, we'd place our money on space buns as the next big thing.

The Princess Leia-esque look — perhaps an homage to the late Carrie Fisher? — has been spotted in various forms at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif., and surrounding parties: half-up, half-down buns; two French braids beginning at the forehead gathered into big, bouncy buns; two French braids beginning at the nape of the neck and working up into buns; and, of course, the classic Baby Spice look, as seen on model Jessica Hart, who rocked the look with her blonde bestie Poppy Delevingne at the Levi's brunch on Saturday morning.

Poppy's little sis, Cara Delevingne, was one of the first to rock the look out and about while promoting Suicide Squad at the end of last year. However, for those who might not be willing to brave the look in their everyday lives, the fest scene is the perfect environment to give it a go.

And if you're feeling extra adventurous, take a cue from model Delilah Belle Hamlin (daughter of Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin and recent addition to the IMG family). The 18-year-old added a bit of flair to her look with extra glitter and face framing wisps.
