Cohen Media Group Acquires 'Oranges and Sunshine'
Cohen Media Group has acquired Jim Loach’s drama Oranges and Sunshine, starring two-time Academy Award nominee Emily Watson.
Watson plays social worker Margaret Humphreys who tries to help British children who were forcibly relocated to Australia trace their families back in Britain.
Based on real-life events, Oranges and Sunshine “is a powerful story of courage, compassion and the will to bring the truth to light,” Charles S. Cohen, chairman and CEO of Cohen Media Group, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to have acquired the film as part of our 2011 slate. Jim Loach guides the film with a sure hand and Emily Watson delivers a performance that will be remembered for years to come. We are also thrilled to have the experience and expertise of producers Camilla Bray, Iain Canning and Emile Sherman who have recently come off the success of Academy Award winner The King’s Speech.”
Oranges and Sunshine is written by Rona Munro and produced by Bray and The King’s Speech's Canning and Sherman.
The deal was negotiated by Anthony Buckner on behalf of Icon and Stephen Dembetzer at Cohen Media Group.
