Colm Meaney and Anna Maxwell Martin Join 'The Alan Partridge Movie'
The movie, directed by Declan Lowney and starring Steve Coogan as a hapless talk show host, has begun shooting.
Colm Meaney (Get Him to the Greek), Anna Maxwell Martin (Becoming Jane), Monica Dolan (Sightseers), Sean Pertwee (Dog Soldiers) and Dustin Demri-Burns (TV's Life’s Too Short) are the latest names to join the cast of The Alan Partridge Movie.
The big-screen version of the talk and radio show host creation portrayed by Steve Coogan has begun shooting in the U.K.
Making his big-screen debut, the disc jockey character is joined by Partridge graduates Felicity Montagu, Tim Key, Simon Greenall, Phil Cornwell, Nigel Lindsay and Darren Boyd.
Coogan's Partridge character is featured in the mockumentary series Mid Morning Matters With Alan Partridge, about a North Norfolk Digital Radio show.
The movie sees Partridge trying to salvage his career while negotiating a potentially violent turn of events at North Norfolk Digital Radio.
Coogan is now on screen in Michael Winterbottom's The Look of Love as Paul Raymond, the British entrepreneur who made a fortune from pornography, property and strip shows. The film is unspooling at the Berlinale.
A Baby Cow production and Studiocanal production, The Alan Partridge Movie is written by Peter Baynham, Coogan, Armando Iannucci and Neil and Rob Gibbons. It is backed by BBC Films and supported in development by the BFI Film Fund.
Producers are Kevin Loader and Henry Normal, with Iannucci, Danny Perkins, Jenny Borgars, Joe Oppenheimer and Christine Langan as executive producers.
Chris Collins will oversee for the BFI Film Fund.
The film is scheduled for release in the U.K. by Studiocanal in 2013, with Studiocanal handling international sales for the film likely to start at Cannes this year.
