Comcast Closes Deal for NBCUniversal

Comcast has completed its acquisition of a majority stake in NBCUniversal.

The deal was finalized Friday, and Comcast made the official announcement Saturday morning.

The cable company will receive a 51 percent stake of NBCUniversal, while General Electric Co. receives 49 percent.

On Thursday, NBCUniversal, which owns broadcast network NBC, cable channels including USA and Syfy, and Universal Pictures, unveiled its new logo that did away with the peacock and the circle. (See new logo here.)

The Comcast-NBCU deal had raised concerns that Comcast would favor its 23 million customers who pay for its cable TV service and 17 million who use its Internet service.
