Comedy Central Adds Three Series From Jeff Ross, Andrew Daly, Nathan Fielder
The cable network has picked up new originals from three familiar faces, including its acerbic roastmaster.
Comedy Central has given series orders to three new originals.
Network head of original programming and production Kent Alterman announced pick-ups for shows starring comedians Jeff Ross, Andrew Daly and Nathan Fielder on Thursday.
The first, The Burn, stars comedian and Comedy Central roastmaster Ross as he pokes fun at the week's hot topics with a group of his peers. He'll also head into the field to skewer public figures and current events.
“Jeff embodies comedy past and comedy future simultaneously," said Alterman, "and we are excited to be in the present with him."
Daly's Review with Forrest MacNeil is a half-hour scripted comedy about a critic who takes aim at intense real-life experiences in lieu of food or cinema. Fair game includes divorce, anonymous sex and all manner of criminal activity.
"This show will be a great service to society,” said Daly. “If you're thinking about cheating on your spouse or murdering someone, please wait until we review it so you can avoid the pitfalls and enjoy the experience."
Nathan for You, stars Fielder as a version of himself, offering advice to real people and struggling businesses -- to various degrees of success. A release from the network says he "is to small businesses what Gordon Ramsay is to floundering restaurants. Only much much worse."
“Picking up my show is a great move for Comedy Central,” said Fielder. “I wouldn't be surprised if we see a major uptick in Viacom stock today.”
Ross, Daly and Fielder will serve as EPs of their respective series, Mike Gibbons and Tagline Television’s Willie Mercer and Amy Zvi also working on The Burn, Charlie Siskel on Review and Michael Koman and Dave Kneebone on Nathan.
