Comedy Central, TWC ink muitipicture deal

Net gets first-window premiere rights to trio of films

Comedy Central has inked a multipicture deal with the Weinstein Co. for the first-window broadcast premiere rights to a trio of films, including Kevin Smith's upcoming "Zack and Miri Make a Porno."

The deal also includes the first-window rights to December's "Extreme Movie," which stars Ryan Pinkston, Michael Cera, Christina DeRosa, Frankie Muniz and Jamie Kennedy, and "The Hammer," starring Adam Carolla. "Porno," opening Oct. 31, stars Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks.

As part of the agreement, Comedy also acquired second-window rights to November's "Soul Men," starring Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac, and "Who's Your Caddy?" starring Big Boi.

"The films in this package feature a great array of today's hottest comedians," Comedy senior vp programming David Bernath said.

David Spiegelman, president of domestic TV and distribution at TWC, said the movies in the package are "perfectly suited" for Comedy's viewers.
