Overseeing East Coast development, she will continue to oversee production on 'The Daily Show,' 'The Nightly Show,' 'Inside Amy Schumer' and 'Broad City.'

Recently taking on the role of president of Comedy Central, Kent Alterman is further empowering one of his top programming executives, promoting Sarah Babineau to senior vp status.

The two-year vet of the company, who oversees production of some of the Viacom channel's top properties, will now serve as senior vp original programming and development, East Coast. Babineau will continue to work out of the New York office, reporting directly to Alterman. “Sarah continually exceeds my expectations,” Alterman offered in one of his recognizably dry and brief statements. “Clearly I need to ask more of her.”

Babineau, part of The Hollywood Reporter's 2015 Next Gen class, joined Comedy Central in 2014 after a stint at Amazon Studios, where she developed the streamer's breakout hits, Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle. Prior to that, Babineau worked with Alterman and Michael Aguilar’s production company Dos Tontos.

In addition to overseeing the New York development team, Babineau has been a central figure in the recent evolution of Comedy Central's late-night brand — launching both The Daily Show With Trevor Noah and The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore during her tenure. She also is the executive in charge of production on the network's two biggest critical darlings, Inside Amy Schumer and Broad City.

Babineau's development slate currently includes projects with Daily Show correspondents Jessica Williams and Jordan Klepper.

Comedy Central recently saw a rather dramatic changing of the guard in the top post, with creative exec Alterman replacing exiting Michele Ganeless as president.
