Comedy Executive Jane Wiseman Joins Chernin Entertainment From NBC (Exclusive)
She will oversee Chernin's comedy division as it heads into a busy fall season.
Television comedy executive Jane Wiseman has been tapped by Chernin Entertainment as senior vp comedy. She was formerly senior vp comedy development at NBC and Universal Media Studios.
She joins the company's television division at a particularly busy time. Chernin has three new series -- and another one very likely -- locked for next season, including Fox's comedy The New Girl, dinosaur drama Terra Nova and animated series Allen Gregory. Touch, a Kiefer Sutherland vehicle from Heroes' Tim Kring, is widely viewed as a lock for mi-season. On the cable side, the company is behind A&E's Breakout Kings. She joins Lauren Stein, who currently serves as senior vp drama, and will report to TV president Katherine Pope.
At NBC, Wiseman most recently oversaw the development of newcomers Up All Night, Whitney and Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea. Last month, the network's new entertainment chairman, Bob Greenblatt, began putting his imprint on the company's comedy division, among other's, by replacing head of comedy Jeff Ingold with Tal Robinowitz.
Prior to NBC, Wiseman spent half a decade at Fox, where she developed such shows as Arrested Development and Paris Hilton-Nicole Richie reality series The Simple Life. Previous stints include Warner Bros. TV and 20th TV.
