Comedy short competition launched in U.K.
CTBF, Working Title Films, U.K. Film Council back initiativeLONDON -- Funny bones are being sought as The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF) launches a comedy script writing short competition Wednesday with heavyweight backing from Working Title Films and the U.K. Film Council.
The charity has collected a who's-who of experts to pick a winning script, which will be made into a short bankrolled by the CTBF and the U.K. Film Council.
And the winning comedy scribe will be £1,000 better off courtesy of production label Working Title.
Judges include Big Talk Productions' Kenton Allen, Oscar-nominated jokester Dan Mazer and Comedy Central's Sarah Farrell. Working Title's Amelia Granger and the Council's Sally Caplan will also judge entries.
Mazer said: "The process of the words that you have written on a page becoming real can teach you a huge amount and it is a real privilege as most words don't make it further than the page."
