Universal Pictures has picked up "Shy Guy," a comedy from writers Dan Greaney and Jeff Poliquin. Jay Roach and Jennifer Perini will produce via Roach's Everyman Pictures.

"Guy" tells the story of a shy, retiring bookbinder who resists his impulsive, hard-partying brother's efforts to blast him out of his shell.

Holly Bario will oversee for Universal.

Greaney is a 10-year vet of "The Simpsons," on which he is a writer-producer. He also was a writer/co-executive producer on "The Michael Richards Show." Poliquin was a writer's assistant on "The Simpsons Movie," where he met Greaney, and the two decided to team up. They were writers on Everyman's "Borat," working on the road with Sacha Baron Cohen. Greaney and Poliquin are repped by the Rothman Brecher Agency.

Everyman's credits include the "Austin Powers" movies and "Meet the Parents" and its sequel. Roach and Perini are repped by CAA.
