Confab puts music DVDs center stage

For the third consecutive year, Home Media Magazine is producing a daylong business conference on the marketing, merchandising, promotion and sale of music DVDs.

The annual Music DVD Conference -- produced by Home Media Magazine in cooperation with The Hollywood Reporter, DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group and the Entertainment Merchants Assn. -- will be held March 6 at the Wyndham Bel Age in West Hollywood.

It's the first and only industry event exclusively devoted to music DVD. Key players from the record labels, studios, distributors and retailers will discuss, analyze and strategize for a power-packed day of information and education. More than 200 attendees are expected.

The event will examine critical issues and trends, including the impact of digital downloading and the challenges and opportunities that await music DVD as next-generation, high-definition optical discs take hold.

Highlights include special market research presentations, a series of executive panel discussions, a product showcase luncheon with a celebrity keynoter and the third annual Music DVD Awards, which last year attracted media attention from more than 20 countries.

"Music DVD is a true product of the DVD age, providing the world's biggest music stars with the opportunity to give their fans so much more than their music," said conference chair Don Rosenberg, vp and general manager of the entertainment group at Questex Media Group, which owns Home Media Magazine. "From concert footage to elaborately staged music video productions, music DVD has become a viable niche industry of its own."
